NMST felicitated IRO winning Bangladesh team
On 20th January 2024, the Bangladesh team won the 25th International Robot Olympiad-IRO held in Athens, the capital city of Greece. The Bangladesh team achieved 15 medals including three gold medals. The remaining 12 include five silver, four bronze and two technical medals. Earlier, the Bangladesh team won 3 silver medals and 3 bronze medals in the 20th International Junior Science Olympiad held in Bangkok in December last year.
The National Museum of Science and Technology-NMST greeted the winning roboticists who have consistently marked their talent in the international arena. On Tuesday, 6 February, the Minister of Science and Technology Yeafesh Osman hande over the awards to the 28 roboticists of the Bangladesh Team.
Dhaka University Robotics Mechatronics Engineering Department Chairman Lafifa Jamal, Bangladesh Science Promotion Society Vice President Munir Hasan and others were present at the event.
While speaking as the chief guest, Science and Technology Minister Yeafesh Osman assured these talented students of all kinds of cooperation in developing technology and building a science-minded nation. He said that soon a modern robotics lab will be set up in the country which will be suitable for students. That will make students more proficient in robotics technology.
It is known from the program that many of the winning Olympiads have already received offers to work in international technology companies. Which is a big honor and glory for the country and in the future roboticists can become popular among the youth like cricketers.
This technology experts said that, despite the limited facilities, the country's students are doing very well in robotics. If these robotics technicians are encouraged more, one day they will be the leaders of smart Bangladesh.
